1 Peter books bought at SBL Annual Meeting

Realizing that one of the main three reasons for many people to go to the SBL Annual Meeting ist to buy new books (the other two beeing seeing people, and attending some lectures), I might present what I found worthy of releasing some money from my pocket. I don't claim to have found hidden treasures, but nevertheless, I already have found these volumes to be a valuable supplements to my personal library: Robert L. Webb & Betsy Bauman-Marty (eds.), Reading First Peter with New Eyes. Methodological Reassessments of the Letter of First Peter (Library of New Testament Studies 364; London, T & T Clark, 2007).

Kenneth J. Thomas and Margaret Orr Thomas,Structure and Orality in 1 Peter. A Guide for Translators (UBS Monograph Series, No. 10; New York, United Bible Societies, 2006).

Joel B. Green, 1 Peter (The Two Horizons New Testament Commentary ; Grand Rapids, Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing, 2007).

I also bought two others, in which 1 Peter is dealt with, namely
Kent E. Brower and Andy Johnson (eds.), Holiness and Ecclesiology in the New Testament (Grand Rapids, Mi., Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing, 2007) in which there is an article by Joel B. Green, 'Living as Exiles: The Church in the Diaspora in 1 Peter,' pp. 311-325, and

G.K. Beale and D.A. Carson (eds.), Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament (Grand Rapids, Mi., Baker Academic, 2007), in which D.A. Carson deals with 1 Peter on pp. 1015-1045.

I am looking forward to immerse my self in these and many others when this busy fall term is over, and I am able to (re)turn more often to the study of 1 Peter (and Philo!) than has been possible in the last term. Hopefully, I will also be able to return to these volumes in this blog.
